We ask God’s blessings upon you today, and trust that you will be edified by what we’re about to share with you. It’s all about Jesus, so you know it’s going to be exciting. Today's Scripture Reading is from The Book of Philippians Chapter 2 verses 7-8 which says: Rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! The Amplified version unpacks the scripture further so that we get a better understanding of what the writer is saying. It is always good to look at other translations. The Amplified version says: He emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man]. 8 After He was found in [ of His] outward appearance as a man [for a divinely-appointed time], He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross. Humbled obedience in the midst of suffering: That defines the character of Jesus. And there is great reward for being humbly obedient in suffering. Some of you may how it was at the gym, when your coach put you through a routine that was sheer suffering and pain; but you stayed the course in spite of it. Today, you are thankful and you can see the benefits for being obedient. Well, so it was with Jesus. Philippians 2:9-11 says: For this reason also [because He obeyed and so completely humbled Himself], God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth; 11 and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (sovereign God), to the glory of God the Father. Obedience is very important to God; but humans have a tendency to be disobedient; even from the very get-go. Adam and Eve were the first humans on earth, and even though they knew that disobedience would result in death, they still disobeyed God’s command. 4h3x1y
